From Wounds to Wisdom: What Makes a True Guide

A personal share & guide to choosing the right practitioner

Are you looking to find the right person to guide you on your healing journey but not quite sure how to make the decision?

As someone who has walked both paths – from deep childhood trauma to becoming a guide for others – I've discovered that the answer lies far beyond certificates and credentials. Let me share my story and the profound insights it revealed about finding the right mentor for my specific needs.

The Seeds of Self-Doubt: My Journey Begins

All my life, I've danced with an inherent feeling of "not good enough." Despite accumulating training certificates and receiving positive feedback, there was always this persistent voice whispering, "You don't know enough." I couldn't settle into that grounded knowing of "I have everything I need right now to begin."

I watched others build thriving practices with far less formal training than I had. Yet, my inner critic kept insisting I needed more preparation, more credentials, more everything. While I now understand this insecurity comes from a young part of me whose trust in her inherent value was broken, the questioning sometimes still happens.

But here's the beautiful paradox: this very questioning has become one of my greatest strengths as a practitioner. It keeps me grounded, curious, and eternally learning. Our deepest wounds can often become our most powerful teaching tools.

Finding My Way: How Struggle Became Purpose

Growing up, I lived in a state of constant tension and emotional volatility. Safety felt like a foreign concept. I didn't have the language for it back then – it took years into adulthood to understand the full implications of growing up in such an environment.

My nervous system was perpetually on high alert, expecting danger at every turn. Sometimes, overwhelmed by it all, I would completely shut down – going quiet, numb, hiding. This was my survival strategy: collapse and disappear.

It manifested in my relationships too. From codependence and anxious attachment to becoming aloof and cold to avoid abandonment – I've walked that path.

Finding safety in my body, learning to trust my feelings without the fog of trauma, learning to soothe myself during triggers – it all meant alchemising the deepest wound of abandonment.

Finding a deep-seated peace and stillness within me after spending so many years in fear is nothing short of extraordinary if I think about it really. Each step of this journey has been about coming home to myself, about transforming those primal wounds into wisdom and strength.

The Moment Everything Changed

I remember the exact moment when I first caught a glimpse of freedom. We had just moved to Budapest – just my mom, my two sisters, and me. We went ice skating at this big rink I'd always dreamed of visiting. Standing there, looking up at the sky, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. My childhood dream of experiencing joy and freedom from fear & anxiety was finally coming true.

Fast forward to today, and I feel a deep sense of calm in my nervous system. My ability to navigate conflict improves daily. While I still feel that familiar tug in my belly when I assert my needs, I'm no longer paralysed by it.

What Really Matters in a Guide?

This journey has taught me profound lessons about what truly matters when seeking guidance. So let me ask you:

"What makes you trust someone's guidance?"

For me, I seek out people who embody the essence of what I'm trying to learn – those with lived experience working through similar challenges. I don't look for perfection or a polished image. I want to see the human side, the ongoing journey, the beautiful imperfections.

True medicine goes far beyond intellectual understanding. While book knowledge might satisfy the mind's need for cleverness, it can't replace the depth and truth of lived experience.

The Power of Energetic Containers

This is why I describe my programs as "containers" rather than just sessions or courses. When you work with someone who has truly integrated their teachings, transformation happens on multiple levels. The energy and frequency they hold create a space where change becomes possible – often without a word being spoken.

Every time I've entered these deep containers with my own teachers, life itself became my classroom. The transformative energy worked through me between sessions, creating a continuous field of growth and learning.

Beyond Credentials: The Truth About Mastery

Let me be direct: I don't prioritise certificates or conventional qualifications when choosing who to work with. I've encountered plenty of "qualified" practitioners who lacked that essential quality of embodied knowing.

Does this mean education doesn't matter? Not at all. Certain modalities absolutely require rigorous training. But true mastery isn't bestowed by an outside organisation – it's earned through dedicated practice and deep devotion to one's craft. You can feel it in someone's presence, in how they hold space, in the wisdom that flows naturally from their lived experience.

The Courage to Face What's Hidden

I often see people so terrified of touching their tender places that they'd rather sacrifice their happiness entirely. They push love away because the idea of feeling their deepest wounds feels too overwhelming.

But here's the truth I've learned: hiding from our wounds causes far more suffering than facing them. Yes, it might sting in the moment, but then it's done. It's over. You're free.

And what you're left with is the wisdom & embodiment of your soul's intelligence you gained from going through instead of avoiding the uncomfortable experience.

My Promise as a Guide

This is my practice and my mastery: to participate in life fully, take responsibility for all the ways it is or isn't working, and stay committed to bringing awareness to the places still in shadow.

As your guide, I won't promise specific outcomes – because I know how intricate and profoundly intelligent this healing process is. Instead, I'm here to hold the light while you find your way, supporting you in staying the course and discovering your own path to inner peace.

Remember, the journey to healing isn't about reaching perfection – it's about embracing our whole selves with compassion and courage.
